Why the Law

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_the_United_States – The law of the United States comprises many levels[1] of codified and uncodified forms of law, of which the most important is the United States Constitution, which prescribes the foundation of the federal government of the United States, as well as various civil liberties.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_liberties – Civil liberties are guarantees and freedoms that liberal governments commit not to abridge, either by legislation or judicial interpretation, without due process. Though the scope of the term differs between countries, civil liberties may include the freedom of conscience, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, the right to security and liberty, freedom of speech, the right to privacy, the right to equal treatment under the law and due process, the right to a fair trial, and the right to life. Other civil liberties include the right to own property, the right to defend oneself, and the right to bodily integrity.

In any civilized society, law is what holds it together.

I have my own views about the law.

One of my dearest friends is a lawyer and has his own views.

I invite my fellow Longmonters to offer their views.
