Perfect Light
During a quiet moment, I was thinking about the election and my heart howled out to my ancestors (Scots and Irish) to help me understand what to do next.
I felt better almost instantly and was able to forget about things and enjoy playing with my dogs.
Later that evening I was listening to the light-hearted Irish Rovers song “Miss Fogarty’s Christmas Cake” and the next song that came up was “We Three Kings.”
The refrain reminded me of Harris’ parable about ‘seeing the stars when it’s darkest.’
As I rolled that thought around in my head, the words of song made it clear:
O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.
This is NOT a religious message.
It is my own advice to my self to keep ‘proceeding’ and keep seeking that ‘perfect light.’
The Light is stronger.
It will not perish.
May your holidays be bright and you find your own perfect light.
