Coloradoan Hides Bias

It is my personal opinion, based on items posted at Colorado Media Matters and my own interactions, that the Coloradoan is deeply biased for the Republican Party. I’ll add more to this post as time permits detailing this.

Here’s some links for your reading pleasure:

Following Colorado Media Matters item, Coloradoan reports on Paccione’s Christian faith

Coloradoan reported voters support Musgrave because she is a Christian but omitted that Paccione also is a Christian.

When confronted with this information, both Kevin Darst and Bob Moore indicated they were confused and didn’t understand why I was upset. Their continued plea of innocence in the light of proof underlines this bias.

Why Conservatives Balk at GOP

By William Frey, M.D.

October 26, 2006

Editor’s Note: George W. Bush frequently states that the U.S. government’s highest duty is to protect the safety of Americans. But many traditional conservatives — as well as many other Americans — disagree with Bush’s priority. They believe that the first responsibility of any President is to defend the Constitution and its guarantees of individual liberty.

Much to the dismay of the Bush Crime Family and the Flying Monkey Right, their most fervent nemesis, talk-show host Mike Malloy, will return to progressive airwaves on Monday, Oct. 30 — a whole week-and-one-day before the mid-term elections. When you consider the corruption and scandals oozing like slime from the right over just the past week-and-one-day, Malloy’s return is not a moment too soon.

A Libby Pardon for Christmas?

From TomDispatch:

Sometimes, the proximate cause of an unraveling, even an implosion, may catch everyone by surprise. This week the “tipping point” (to borrow a Bush administration phrase from the Iraq War) for the possible unraveling of Republican control of Congress may be the roiling, boiling Mark Foley affair with its sexually explicit emails and instant messages to teenage House pages, which, in the pattern of any such scandal, has surely not yet fully emerged into view.

FAUX News

O'Reilly is a punkLook carefully – this is why America hasn’t turned on the Republicans – Faux News keeps pulling shit like this. This was NOT a mistake. He’s listed as (D – FL) but ‘Republican’ in the small type.

Bill O’Reilly is a weasel of monumental proportions.

FOOL’S GOAL

By Sheila Samples

I will seize the opportunity to achieve big goals.”~~George W. Bush

My friend Bernie says a lot of folks have George Bush figured all wrong. “Sure he lies,” Bernie said, “every time he opens his mouth. But — think about it. Even when Bush is lying he ends up telling us what he’s gonna do. He can’t help himself — he just blurts it out. But by the time we understand what he’s saying — he’s already made a stinkin’ mess and moved on to the next one.”

Why Bush Will Nuke Iran

By Paul Craig Roberts

09/26/06 “Information Clearing House” — — The neoconservative Bush administration will attack Iran with tactical nuclear weapons, because it is the only way the neocons believe they can rescue their goal of US (and Israeli) hegemony in the Middle East.

Clergy Condemns Gay Marriage Ban

Clergy condemn call to ban gay marriage

Rev. Michael Morran on Sunday used a makeshift pulpit in front of the state Capitol to condemn a constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage.Standing in front of a sign reading, “People of Faith Standing on the Side of Love,” with flowers strewn at his feet, Morran joined other clergy in denouncing Amendment 43 on November’s ballot.

Just Damn Rude

Maybe it’s getting older, but I found this young woman’s self-absorption a bit much. I made sure to walk right up to her, get into her field of view and stand there politely and wait for nearly a minute – hoping she’d get it that I would like to sit down and move her backpack. After over a minute of being pointedly ignored while she blathered on her cell, (periodically looking sideways at me) I gave up and just stood while I waited for the bus. I’m glad her backpack didn’t get dirty sitting on the ground.

Manners certainly don’t seem to count for much these days. I guess if I’d been more assertive and said: ‘Hey! How about some room?!’ that might have gotten through. Kinda doubt it – she was talking about her ‘rude’ boyfriend. Hm. Would you like fries with that irony?

Time for Peace

The United States lost this terrible war in Iraq long ago. Those of us who oppose the war have not done enough to wake up people to reason.

Olbermann on Bush – Sept 6

‘Have you no sense of decency, sir?’

It is to our deep national shame—and ultimately it will be to the President’s deep personal regret—that he has followed his Secretary of Defense down the path of trying to tie those loyal Americans who disagree with his policies—or even question their effectiveness or execution—to the Nazis of the past, and the al Qaeda of the present.

Charlie’s OK

My dear friend Charles was struck down by a sudden attack of blood clots – agonizingly painful and completely dibilitating. Had us all worried there for a while.

He’s doing much better now, thank heavens!

Update

Last report indicates he’s still feeling pretty bad – this was a ‘near-death’ experience. Apparently the clots went the ‘right’ way – otherwise he’d have died of a heart attack or a stroke.

Update 2

Marilyn and I visited recently and took him a home-cooked meal. He’s looking much better! WHOO HOO!!

President Bush ‘assassinated’ in new TV docudrama

31.08.06

Bush is shot by a sniper in a scene from Death of a President.

Held up by a secret service bodyguard in his dying moments after being shot in the stomach, this is President Bush being assassinated.

Surrounded by a crowd of panicking onlookers, the American leader is pictured just seconds after being gunned down by a sniper following an anti-war demonstration.

But rather than a repeat of JFK’s shooting or Ronald Reagan’s attempted assassination, this shocking image is part of a new Channel Four show.

The dramatic scene, which has caused outrage among Americans, has been created by a British film company for a programme about the effect of the War On Terror.
