Well, it’s happened again – police arrested a man because he refused to show an ID. Post on arrestee’s site This insanity has GOT TO STOP. The police are clearly scared out of their minds that people will suddenly start asserting their rights and are pushing this hard. Read the whole article, it’s chilling. This is the first step on the slippery slope folks. We simply must NOT allow it to become commonplace.

Police officers masquerading as protestors, trying to start a riot.

It’s dishonoring their oath and oathbreakers should not be allowed to wear the uniform. Period.

It’s one thing to be undercover, I certainly get the need for that – but inciting riots? The commanding officer that either ordered this or ‘winked at it’ should be arrested and tried for conspiracy.

Bush invokes ‘tragedy of Vietnam’ against Iraq pullout. KANSAS CITY, Missouri (CNN) — President Bush drew parallels between the aftermath of the Vietnam War and the potential costs of pulling out of Iraq in a speech Wednesday. “Three decades later, there is a legitimate debate about how we got into the Vietnam War and how we left,” Bush told members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, at their convention in Kansas City, Missouri. “Whatever your position in that debate, one unmistakable legacy of Vietnam is that the price of America’s withdrawal was paid by millions of innocent citizens, whose agonies would add to our vocabulary new terms like ‘boat people,’ ‘re-education camps’ and ‘killing fields,’ “ the president said. — I simply cannot believe this man. He ducked his own National Guard service which he used to duck out of his own Vietnam service, now he’s ducking responsibility for the carnage in Iraq by comparing it to Vietnam. I don’t know about you, but to me, that is the definition of rank hypocrisy.

My America – A Government of Deception and Corruption

Made for a student’s American Studies class – 120 man-hours to produce. Loose Change, which it resembles, was a multi-person effort for more than a year. Not bad for a student. I’ve seen Loose Change and this film rivals (if not excells) it in quality. Unfortunately, it’s about a very depressing subject – how the Bush Admin has basically screwed this country. And before you ask, yes, I believe 9-11 was a conspiracy and that we are in great danger.

Was looking into Muslim history and found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_Muslim_history So the hatred between the sects has existed for literally *centuries* – I seriously doubt we’ll be the ones to end it. From PFAW: Jim Campbell, someone who clearly does not understand immigration control, did something really stupid: he gave $100,000 to Chris Simcox of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (ie he basically threw the money up in the air and yelled Whoopee!!) with the expectation that they’d use it to build an ‘Israeli-style’ barrier across someone else’s private land. Well, suffice to say, what was built was basically cattle fencing that a six-year-old could get over – ie Mr. Campbell got punkd. It’s endlessly amusing to me how people with more money than sense rush out to shower money on wingnut whackjobs, but won’t raise a finger to do the right thing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, money does not equal class or brains. A lot of well-to-do folks I’ve met in my life got that way by being vicious, unprincipled, ruthless and heartless. Every time I see one of these rednecked stoneheads getting spanked publicly it gives me a little hope that we’re evolving as a species.

by Mary Pitt After November’s election, the people were feeling optimistic, having elected a Democratic majority in the House and more than an even balance in the Senate. Speaker Pelosi announced her “first 100 hours” strategy and we were ready to watch the reform take place. However, the euphoria was short-lived as the House passed first one “non-binding resolution” only to have it squelched by the Republican bloc in the Senate. The Democrats, unlike the Dixie Chicks, are still convinced that they need to make nice. Perhaps they were in the minority for too long and it was simply easier to fall back into the same old habits of huddling helplessness. In addition, the next election campaign is on everybody’s minds and key figures are playing to the power structure rather than to the electorate. Continue reading →

NIST Condemns Paperless Voting

“Paperless electronic voting machines ‘cannot be made secure‘ [pdf] according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In the most sweeping condemnation of voting machines issued by any federal agency, NIST echoes what critics have been saying all along, that due to the lack of verifiability, ‘a single programmer could rig a major election.’ Rather than adding printers, though, NIST endorses the hand-marked optical-scan system as the most reliable.” – Golly gee whiz. Like no one’s been SCREAMING that for YEARS. Nice to see the kids at NIST weigh in on this. Hopefully now all the naysayers will WTF up.
