Ipecac was meant as an emetic in It's a Gift, after Baby LeRoy's mother falsely accused Fields of stuffing the child with grapes and giving him colic. Portmanteau actually refers to a type of suitcase which is divided into two compartments, something apparently popular a century ago. No references to one of Field's best films, "You're Telling Me" (c.1934). Has anyone seen it?
